Happy Fall 5th Bridge Pledgers!

Mark your calendars for November 13–15, when 5th Bridge will host the third annual Feed My Starving Children mobile packing event in downtown Northfield. During these three days, over 1,200 Northfield volunteers will package 250,000 meals and raise $42,500 to feed starving children around the world. Sign up online at www.5thbridge.org/fmsc or call Candy Taylor at 507-581-3017 to participate in this rewarding experience.

Walk with 5th Bridge in the Defeat of Jesse James Parade on Sunday, September 13. This year we will be doing a SIMPLE dance step with tools, thanks to help from Anthony & Janice Roberts. We are having one rehearsal on Tuesday, September 8 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Estenson Farm (10541 Ibson Avenue). Please bring a broom, rake, shovel or any tool used to volunteer. Come join the fun and walk to promote volunteerism.

Did you know that you can become a fan of 5th Bridge on Facebook?

Yes, you can! If you have a Facebook account, it's as easy as clicking "Become a Fan". If you don't have a Facebook account, you can still view our page here. You can also become friends with our mascot, Bridgeit (search for Bridgeit Cow).

Facebook

Why is 5th Bridge on Facebook?
Our goal is to help everyone in the Northfield area commit to five hours of community service per month. When we started in 2006, Facebook was mostly for college students. Now, the fastest growing group on Facebook is women ages 35-55, and research shows that over half of its active users visit the site daily.

We want to make it easy for our community to hear about volunteer opportunities and local events, so we're putting that information in a place where our audience is already spending a lot of time. You can also find the same information on our website, as always: www.5thbridge.org.

Why should I become a fan?
1. Because you'll be showing your support for an important community organization that depends on public awareness and donors;
2. So that you can get updates from 5th Bridge on your home page a few times per week without taking the extra time to seek out the information on our website;
3. To keep up with Bridgeit;
4. So that you can help us spread the word about the great work that our community volunteers are doing to make Northfield a better place to live;
5. So that you can see all the photos we've posted (and tag yourself in them!)

Is becoming a fan the same as taking the 5th Bridge Pledge?
No. If you want to formally sign up for the pledge, you can do that on our website or in person at a community event where 5th Bridge has a booth or table.

What kind of information will I get from 5th Bridge on Facebook?
1. New volunteer opportunities as they arise (like, Three Links needs cashiers on Thursday, or the DJJD Committee is looking for help, etc).
2. Ideas from our "300+ Ways to Volunteer" list
3. Ideas from community members
4. Event details for our big annual events (Feed My Starving Children packing event and Goods for Good)
5. Fun photos and links

Can I become a fan and unsubscribe later?
Yes you can. And if you don't like the frequency or content, please let us know so we can take your concerns into consideration.

Still have questions, or ideas? Let us know! E-mail 5th Bridge with your feedback

Sincerely,
