Congratulations to all of you for making a difference in the city of Northfield this weekend. Under your leadership, fueled by the volunteerism of over 800 adults, children and students, we collectively packed over 200,000 meals in a three day span. The number is more precisely logged at 205,000. That is double our original goal of 100,000 meals.

It is difficult to know how to thank so many of you for your creativity, planning aptitude, sweat equity, engagement of volunteers, positive attitudes, behind the scenes hard work and financial support. It is a sheer honor and blessing to be a citizen with you in the community of Northfield.

We are very close to our goal of raising $22,500 for this event and we hope to surpass that over the next few days. For those wishing to contribute (or who forgot to contribute over the weekend), contributors can send their checks made out to FMSC either to 11 Bridge Square in Northfield, or to 6750 W. Broadway Avenue; Brooklyn Park, Minnesota 55428-2355. Please make sure that the checks note "Northfield Mobile Event".

This weekend, we saw some tears shed by those who watched the video. We heard great laughter from young and old alike. We experienced cheering from teams challenging each other to pack more food. Everyone left with smiles. Most importantly, each of us intuitively understand how blessed we are to be living in our community, in the state of Minnesota and in the country of the United States. In the spirit of 5th Bridge, we gave a little back this weekend. And, it felt great to do it.

Well done. I wonder what this event looks like in 2008?
